The third module of Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program brings
together international experts and practitioners to highlight wide-range of skills,
approaches and strategies of conflict resolution:
Dr. Panrapee Suttiwan and Dr. Puntip Sirivunnabood,
the Faculty of Psychology of Chulalongkorn University lead the discussions on
Communication in Conflict Situation; Mr. Joel Schaffer of Federal Mediation Center
(San Francisco, USA) and Dr. Suwit Laohasiriwong, Director of Center for Dispute Resolution,
Khon Khaen University work together in highlighting theories and skills on Negotiation,
Mediation and Problem Solving and Public Policy Dispute; Mr. Alfredo Ferrariz Lubang from
Nonviolence International Southeast Asia on Nonviolent Action; Dr. Kamarulzaman Askandar
from University of Sains (Malaysia) on Civil Society and Peace Processes; and
Col.Songwit Noonpakdee of Royal Thai Army on Military Peace Operation.

Field Study 2: Northern Thailand
February 11-15, 2007
-
The second RPCS field study trip visit Chiang Mai, Thailand's second
largest city in Northern Thailand to examine various attempts of conflict
resolution at work. The sites of visit are from the hill-top
Ang Khang Royal Project, nationally well-known Systemic Garbage
Elimination Project of Wiang Fang Municipality, Mae Wang and
Mae Ta Chang Watershed and Community Irrigation Ditch.
The group too has opportunity to engage in discussions with the
Hug Chiang Mai Alliance on various Mega-projects to be implemented in the area
and their impacts. During this field study trip,
the group is hosted a welcoming dinner by local Rotary Clubs.

Staff and participants at the Rotary Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at
Chulalongkorn University are honored to receive the visit from representatives of
Rotary International Offices, Mr. Sanjay Parmar from India,
Mr.Terry Davies from Australia and Mr.Suk-Ho Kim from South Korea accompanied by
Coordinator of Peace and Conflict Studies Department of the Rotary Foundation of
Rotary International Ms. Jenn Weidman and
Director of Rotary Center in Thailand Ms. Danucha Bhumithaworn.
The distinguished guests are warmly received by Director of the

accepting applications
for its three-month certificate Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies
Program.
Session V: July to September 2008

Full and part funding for the participants
are provided by Rotary International. The deadline for application is December 1, 2007
